I love, love, love that quote. Simply because that’s how life works. And being able to change and move with what happens is a source of power. In your business one day this marketing plan might work and now, with the advent of social media you have to rework things. It is important not to be tied to the doings of your business such as “we’ve always done it that way” because you did not get in to business to do “things”. Remember, your commitment should be to the workability, success, and prosperity of your business. If you keep that in mind then your actions and the doings of your business fall into place.
For example, lets say you sell widgets. And you are really excited about what they can do for people. And since you started the business in your basement you have always sort of fudged an accounting system. You have a little here, you sometimes use quickbooks, you sometimes have your partner remember things – that doesn’t work. If you stood with your core idea being having your business be workable and successful you would get a system that would allow you to expand, streamlining you accounting system so you can effectively send out invoices and take payments.
But when you don’t do that you are actually saying your commitment is to having things not be successful for your business. And I don’t think that’s the reason why you started it right?
