Let’s dive into the five content creation ideas we discussed in episode Social Medis Sanity.
In this episode, we focused on providing practical strategies to help you create content that is both easy to execute and engaging. Here are 5 key takeaways:
1. Record Your Rants: Have you ever read an article or followed industry news and instantly had thoughts and opinions about it? Don’t let those thoughts go to waste! Hit the record button and capture your passion and expertise. Share your point of view and offer alternative solutions. Don’t forget to mention your products or services if they align with the topic.
2. Time Travel: People are fascinated by the inner workings of things. Take advantage of this by showcasing behind-the-scenes glimpses of your product creation or service delivery process. Record videos of your workspace or yourself in action. Time-lapse videos work great! Overlay them with relevant audio, such as updates about your business, industry news, or helpful tips.
3. Pick a Fight: Is there an industry standard or commonly held notion in your field that you fundamentally disagree with? Challenge it! Express your contradicted viewpoint and explain why you believe it to be misleading. By doing this, you demonstrate your expertise and establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry.
4. Reminders: Your audience can benefit from daily reminders related to your expertise or products. Choose one action or habit that aligns with your niche and create regular content around it. These reminders not only engage your audience but also demonstrate your commitment to supporting them.
5. Host a Virtual AMA: Amplify your engagement and showcase your expertise by hosting a virtual AMA (Ask Me Anything). Encourage your audience to ask questions related to your subject matter. This works well in conjunction with a campaign, webinar promotion, or even a hashtag holiday. Make sure to respond to all comments and questions to foster a sense of community.
By implementing these content creation ideas, you can boost your social media presence and better connect with your audience. Remember, consistency is key! Keep creating and don’t let the fear of imperfection hold you back.

Tamay Shannon [00:00:04]:
Welcome to Social Media Sanity, the podcast that brings you bite sized reminders and insights to navigate the world of social media. I’m your host, Tamay Shannon. In each short episode, we provide practical strategies, thought provoking questions, and permission to be true to yourself as a business owner. Join us on this journey to a mindful and purposeful online presence. Let’s dive in. Today I want to talk about five content creation ideas that you can use. Now, the intention of these ideas are that they’re easy to do, that it doesn’t require you to get a lot of setup done that you’re able to execute now, if not today. And I challenge you to execute one of these today.
Tamay Shannon [00:00:56]:
I know that business owners often get into this really weird perfectionism. Like, it’s not the right time. I got to make sure it’s optimized. I got to make sure I do it right. Exactly. And let me just tell you a dirty secret right now, all your posts are not going to hit. They’re not. In fact, it might feel like none of your posts are hitting.
Tamay Shannon [00:01:21]:
But let me tell you, the consistency. Consistency is really going to pay dividends. And I cannot tell you how many times a post that you created a long time ago, for whatever reason, gets the spotlight. So it might be due to what’s happening in the world. It might just be that somebody particularly shared it. But old posts get the spotlight too. But they can’t get the spotlight if you don’t create them. One of the first things that you can do to easily create content is record your rants.
Tamay Shannon [00:01:55]:
Yes, record them. You know how you’re reading some industry news or an article and you’re like, oh, I can’t believe they said that, or Why did they do it that way? And you instantly have thoughts and reasons from your expertise about why that way, why that suggestion, why that article is misleading to people. So I want you to record those thoughts. Now, the best thing is that this doesn’t have to be a video record. You can simply record your audio. But I want you to capture that passion. I want you to capture your expertise that informs why you think this is not the way it should be done. And I want you to share your POV, your point of view about why something can be done a different way.
Tamay Shannon [00:02:44]:
This has the added bonuses of two things. First, because you’re super geeked about it, because you’re excited about it, it’s going to be easy for you to talk about. It’s going to roll off your tongue. You’re not going to get tongue tied. You’re not going to worry about if you’re saying something wrong or if it should be said this way, because you’re going to be responding. And the second thing is, if you offer a solution, if you offer a business solution, this is a great time to pitch or share about your product or service. The second way to easily create content is time travel. I don’t know what it is, but we’re fascinated by how things are made, the mundane.
Tamay Shannon [00:03:24]:
Like, there’s been a lot of shows, like how things are made and you see how aluminum bottles are made and everybody loves it, right? So we as humans love the inner workings of things. And you can share that about your product or service. How you share it about your product is if you manufacture your product at home or if you have a facility, you literally can just do a video, set up a tripod, lean your phone against something and video the space for, let’s say, five minutes. And you’ll capture different parts of the process. And then you can have the opportunity to speed that up and make different clips of the process. And you can combine that with the recording of rant or something else as a voiceover. If you’re service based, you can record you doing work over a period of time. So whether that’s reading a book, researching, working at your laptop, working in your office, writing a speech, whatever it is, you can record yourself doing things that you do in your business normally.
Tamay Shannon [00:04:35]:
And again, you want to record five to seven minutes. And what this is going to do is it’s going to give you multiple options of time lapse video. And then the audio that you overlay to this video can be anything. You could be talking about a current campaign you have in your business, a current sale you have in your business, you could be talking about industry news, things for people to watch out for, tips, reminders. But the great thing is that this audio recording can be done anywhere, in any place, and it doesn’t have to be done the same time you record your time lapse. So when you have a day that you’re feeling super cute, you feel like you’re looking handsome, go ahead and record your time lapse video of yourself and just save it. You don’t have to use it immediately, but save it in your own personal content istock, whatever vault. And then when you need to create content, whip out your phone, record some audio, add it to the time lapse, and you’re good to go.
Tamay Shannon [00:05:35]:
The third way to easily create some content is pick a fight. And this can be similar to recording a rant, but pick a fight is going specifically after a notion, something, an industry standard, but something in your industry that is shared and propagated, but that you feel is categorically wrong or again is misleading to your client. So I’ll give you an example. Think of the food pyramid, the food triangle. That thing has been through so many revisions and updates and additions and blah, blah, blah. And people currently say it’s not even useful anymore, right? It’s not even useful for what people need. And so that is the food triangle is something that is a respected or not respected, but something that everybody knows about and that people reference and think that is true. And so if you were a nutritionist or somebody else, you could say, hey, this is why the food pyramid is wrong.
Tamay Shannon [00:06:41]:
So think about other standards in your industry that you don’t agree with, that you never reference, that you steer your clients away from because you’re like, no, that doesn’t actually work like that in real life. Use those and talk about them. So pick a fight, go after them and tell people why you think you’re wrong. And then this again, it showcases your expertise. Because if you’re saying, hey, this thing that you think is true, let me tell you why it’s not. Only experts can break down why something is actually not true. So show your expertise. The fourth way to easily create some content is reminders.
Tamay Shannon [00:07:23]:
There’s always something your audience should be doing daily, right? Whether it’s drinking water, whether it’s getting up and walking around for five minutes, whether it’s checking on something or downloading something. But there’s always an action within your realm of expertise, within your product or your service, that your audience should be doing daily. So you can do a check in. So it could be something like, have you had your water today? Squad check in? Drop an emoji if you have. And so this one gets engagement. But two reminds people, hey, here are the basics. Here’s a reminder, I’m here to support you. So what is a thing that your audience should be doing every day? And you can create content out of that quickly and easily.
Tamay Shannon [00:08:13]:
And finally, the fifth way to easily create content is to host a virtual AMA. So the way you would introduce this is you record a video and you would say, hey, I’m hosting a virtual AMA about this subject. If you have a question, check the comments or add it in the comments and I’ll be responding throughout the day. And these work really well in conjunction with a campaign. So if you’re launching something new, if you want to direct people to a webinar, this is really great for that. It’s also working well in conjunction with a hashtag holiday. So we know that there’s like hashtag sibling Day or Chocolate Day or Taco Day or whatever, all of those hashtag holidays, you can tie it into one of those. This is going to one.
Tamay Shannon [00:09:05]:
Again, showcase your expertise as well as make sure that your engagement goes up. Because as people post comments and as you respond, more people see the content, more people ask questions. And when people ask questions, that means other people have those questions. So when you answer it for one, you’re answering it for many. All right, y’all, those are the five ways that you can easily, easily create content that exists within your zone of genghis. I wanted to remind you, don’t make content creation difficult. It doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, if you feel like it’s too easy, lean into that.
Tamay Shannon [00:09:50]:
Keep doing that. If you haven’t posted in a while, these are great ideas to use. If you have posted recently, these are great ideas to stack your content creation. Let me know in the comments. Let me know in the reviews which one you’re going to use, and that wraps up social media sanity. Apply the insights and strategies to build a mindful online presence. If you enjoyed this episode, I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. Your feedback helps me reach more listeners like you.
Tamay Shannon [00:10:29]:
