TOTD: Follow Up with Social Media

Follow up is a hallmark of a successful business. Without follow up you will have a hobby.

Incorporating social media into your follow up not only extends your reach but allows you to initiate a type of contact that allows you to stay top of mind without feeling like your harassing them.

For example:

Hey @potentialclient it was great touring your facility today. (Maybe even include a picture)

By initiating this contact and following them you are inviting them to follow your updates. Then they will see your valuable content and you’ll continue to develop a relationship.

How do you do follow up on social media?

  1. Hi Tammy
Wow, you nailed it with the comic. Sometimes I feel as if I cant keep up with whats socially acceptable. Ive even had friends call to say I didnt respond on Facebook and they wanted to know if I was ok.
I follow up on social media by responding to comments or pictures.

    1. Thanks! It’s a fine line that’s hard to toe sometimes. Some people want you to be hyper involved and some don’t.

  2. Tamay, thats a great tip I hadnt thought of before for staying top of mind with your prospects. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I loved your comic … cyber stalking (in the non-creepy way) is a great way to keep up with your contacts.

One of my favorite ways to follow up is to check out the person’s profile and then make a comment or ask a question about something they’ve done or about their business. It let’s them know you’re interested in them, not just posting the same thing on everyone’s page.
